Gonfalon, painting on silk processional piece
The first gonfalon was commissioned by Penna Rose (director of Princeton University Chapel Choir) in loving memory of Dean Joseph Williamson. "Joe" charged Penna with making the Princeton University
Chapel the "St. John the Divine of New Jersey." Dean Willianson
commissioned several large installations of my work for the chapel, so it was a very special experience to create a piece in his memory. I thought about his work for the chapel, and advocacy for the poor and the arts. The gonfalon was used for his memorial service and has since served as a processional piece for special occasions.
The second gonfalon was a celebration piece created for a Mennonite Arts Weekend at Cincinnati Mennonite Church.
